Last Updated on

Many people are interested in Phenibut for its ability to relieve stress and anxiety, but others feel that this is simply a product that is too good to be true. There are always going to be pros and cons with any supplement that you buy online, and it’s important to get all the facts before you decide to purchase anything to improve your body or state of mind. When it comes to Phenibut, you’ll be getting a rather safe product that does not have any serious side effects when used properly. As long as you are taking the recommended amount of it on a daily basis, you should not run into any of the downside of Phenibut.

What are the Possible Risks with Phenibut?phenibut side effects

You only really need to worry about the side effects of Phenibut when you have taken too much of it. People who take the right amount on a regular basis rarely notice any problems, so you won’t have much of anything to worry about as long as you stay smart. Even if you do find yourself taking too much of this supplement, the negative side effects that could come your way are rather minor. That have been people who have reported minor problems such as dry mouth and headaches after taking too much of the product, and these issues can be resolved rather quickly by either discontinuing the use of the product or switching to a lower daily intake.

Talk to Your Doctor

You should talk to your doctor before you begin the use of any supplement. Phenibut is no exception. This is especially true if you are taking any other medication that could interact with Phenibut. Phenibut is completely harmless 99.9 percent of the time – particularly if you follow the dosage recommendations – but it is better to be safe than sorry, and your doctor may be able to give you better advice on how to use Phenibut and what dosage recommendations to follow. Talking your doctor should always be the first step in starting a new medication; even a supplement medication.

Understanding Phenibut Dosing

You want to understand the dosing recommendations of Phenibut before you begin taking it. You can have side effects if you take too much. However, the dosing recommendations on Phenibut are hard to pin down. That’s because if you do a search for recommended dosages, you will get everything from people telling you that you can take as much is you want to websites recommending very conservative amounts that probably won’t have an effect at all. According to our research, taking information from experts only, the recommended dosage of Phenibut is between 250 and 500 milligrams taken 1 to 3 times a day. You can probably take up to 2000 milligrams safely, but you shouldn’t go over that.

Phenibut Side Effects from Regular Use

Phenibut is not recommended for long-term use. This should be a temporary supplement that you use sort of like Tylenol. You only take it when you have a headache. In the case of Phenibut, you only take it when you’re having a major case of anxiety or you need improve brain health for something specific. Taking it every day is probably not going to have much of an effect, but the fact is that we just do not have enough information to determine that. There has only been a limited amount of testing, and so there is no way to know exactly what the long-term effects are if you use Phenibut every day.

Phenibut Side Effects from Using Too Much

You could also experience side effects if use too much. If you take the recommended dosages of Phenibut, you should not experience side effects at all. Anything over 2000 milligrams per day can lead to side effects that are similar to other GABA stimulators as well as alcohol. For example, you may experience headaches, nausea, lightheadedness, fatigue, difficulty sleeping or mental health symptoms such as anxiety and depression. You may even experience memory loss and unconsciousness if you take huge amounts. That’s why it is really recommended that you stick to 250 milligrams to 500 milligrams per day and no more than three doses per day.

The Long-Term Risks of Phenibut

There are definitely risks if you use Phenibut over the long term. Most experts recommend using Phenibut as sparingly as possible. If you build up Phenibut in your system, or you consistently take more than the recommended amount, not only will you experience side effects, but you will also experience a tolerance increase. This tolerance increase means that you have to think more the next time and it can be difficult to come off of Phenibut when that happens. If you do build up your tolerance and experience withdrawal symptoms, it is recommended that you taper off your dosage gradually and that you discontinue usage if the amount of Phenibut needed to have an effect is more than the maximum daily recommended dosage of 2000 milligrams.

How to Avoid Possible Side Effects

If you’re going to avoid the possible risks of Phenibut, then you just need to figure out the dosage that will work for you. Although most users of the product claim that 1 gram per day is usually a good option, the reality is that this is not a one size fits all product. People are going to find that different amounts of the product work well for them individually, similar to how different people find that different types of diets work for them. It may take some tinkering around during the first few days that you receive your Phenibut shipment, but you should eventually find out what works for you.

Phenibut Tolerance

One last thing to remember when it comes to the side effects of Phenibut is that your tolerance for this supplement can build up rather quickly. This is the main reason that most people decide to avoid taking it on a daily basis. By giving yourself a day or two off between each dose, you can ensure that you will not end up taking too much of it over the long term. You will find that you need to take more and more of the supplement every day if you want to use it all the time, and this is something that will simply not work over the long run. To make sure that you can avoid the minor side effects of this supplement and not end up building up a tolerance to it, take things slow at first. You can learn how to control your doses as you become more experienced with Phenibut, but one rule to remember is that this is usually something to you should not be taking on a daily basis.

The Bottom Line

The bottom line is that there are a lot of drugs out there that have way more side effects than Phenibut. If you compare Phenibut to the pharmacological category benzodiazepines, the side effects are extremely mild and the benefits are nearly the same. However, that does not mean that you should throw caution to the wind when using Phenibut. Follow the recommended dosage and make sure that you are aware of what the withdrawal symptoms feel like and discontinue usage if you build up a tolerance that requires you to take more than the recommended daily dosage. If you do this, you should be able to get a therapeutic effect from Phenibut without any problems.

Phenibut is a very odd compound. Most internet reports that involve a ‘trainwreck’ type of experience are by users that ingest great quantities over a protracted period.

I have kept an extensive usage log since 06.07.2013. I have detailed data regarding dosing amounts and times as well as subjective psychoactive and somatic effects.

I now have a very good regimen for regular usage that hasn’t yet resulted in any semi-permanent tolerance issues that seem to plague overzealous users.

I do two days on followed by three or four days off. I’m about to dose right now. First, a few words of caution. Did you read the info. provided on this site? You should. Following the guidelines set forth on this site will help you avoid most of the pitfalls others have fallen prey to..too much, and too frequent dosing.

For my first day(which is about to commence), I take 0.5-0.75gm 3x(QID). No. that’s not 3x x 3x. It’s three times per day.

On day two, I take 0.75gm, 1.0gm, and 1.0gm, Then you must stop for your washout period. All that you’re going to get from Phenibut long term are the pro-social and lowered anxiety levels on your ‘on’ days and the 3rd day due to weird pharmacodynamics.

If you take it to ‘get high’ you’re almost certainly going to get burned at some point. I think that pretty much everyone first gets acquainted with Phenibut in this manner, but it’s a relationship that cannot last.

I seem to be pretty fortunate as not to need a large dose to get the benefits of Phenibut. You can mess with my amounts a bit, but if you find yourself needing more than 3gms. in order to get any effect, this compound is almost certainly not for you.

Two more things, be sure to drink plenty of water and eat nutritiously during ‘your life on Phenibut.’ The second thing is that if you have impulse issues i.e. not being able to control your drug usage, steer clear of this one.

    Be informed, be safe!

    Peace,

    PW

For all of the great feelings phenibut produces be warned of it’s addictive properties. Using the drug recreationally I experienced minor hangover, occasional sleep paralysis, and lucid dreaming very similar to the SSRI/NRI class drugs. After continued daily use for about 6 months I required prescription help from my physician to treat moderate to severe side effects. Do not combine phenibut with alcohol, benzodiazepines, narcotics, SSRI/NRI medications *I am not a Medical Professional, speaking only from my experience and genuine concern for the addictive nature of phenibut when used in conjunction with the above medications* Common sense applies obviously. It works great with a safe median dosage (subjective to the user, never increase dosage once a median is found) in my personal opinion this drug should not be used by stimulant prescription users as an alternative “high” or an addict. Complications are profound, and very distressing (though not fatal) withdrawal symptoms are very similar to benzodiazepines, and alcohol. I understand and agree with legal alternative medications, but would just like to warn against the abuse potential of phenibut.

What if you wanted phenibut to fall asleep – NOT on a regular basis, just once every couple of weeks on nights that are stressfull – what is an safe acceptable dose to knock yourself out?

Through the supplement company I buy my Phenibut caps from I have always followed there strict instructions to avoid tolerance and it has worked. They are 500mg capsules, taken 1-2 as needed, 4 max a day (and after a 3 or 4 consecutive days of use), you then stop for a “wash out” period of 2 full days. I have done this religiously and kept myself away from tolerance and a Phenibut Addiction. (IT IS REALLY THE ONLY OVER THE COUNTER OPTION WE HAVE OUT THERE EVERYONE FOR STRESS, ANXIETY, INSOMNIA, ETC… SO PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS BUT ENJOY THE BENIFITS AT THE SAME TIME!)

Stuff is great PTSD, mania and nothing works. Still taking some other anti depressants. On one day off the next always, maybe try for a longer stretch between. I could barely speak to people, I had thoughts but could not speak for anxiety.
Resolved, as long as the stuff works.
